Using displacement mapping
Photoshop truly is an amazing piece of software, one of the great features of photoshop is its ability to simulate 3D effects. One of the most popular tools is the displacement tool, in this tutorial we will use the displacement tool to map text onto an irregular surface. This gives the impression of the text being part of the underlying layer.
